Advanced Composition Fall 2015
Instructions
Did you know that written text can also be art? All of YOU are to be my new artists...I would like all of you to be artists with the freedom to express yourselves in any way that you would like. Every Sunday evening or Monday morning, I will post the topic for you to write about. Once you have read my topic, you will need to write your responses on your own blog. Your responses ought to be 1-2 paragraphs in length, but you should not spend more than 30 minutes writing them. Be sure to title each blog entry with "Topic #__:" and then your own title.
Next, you will need to comment on your classmates' blogs. Each student needs to leave a 2-3 sentences comment on two other students' blogs in order to receive credit per week.
On a final note, these blogs are intended to be fun and to allow you to display your creativity. Be adventurous and express yourselves! Although we may occasionally use some of your blog entries for grammar practice, these blogs are primarily focused on content. Nonetheless, aim at your very best for grammatical accuracy. Above all, though, have fun!!

Topic #4: Happiness
| This is an old photo, but it is one of my favorites. :) |
In my case, it is my family. Of my family, it is especially my daughter who fills my heart with sheer happiness. I will be honest in saying that before I had my daughter, I did not quite understand why people took so many photos or posted so many photos of their children. However, now that I am a mother, I completely understand! My daughter truly makes me SO happy, and I cannot stop thanking God every day for blessing me with such a gift.
What about you? What makes you genuinely happy?

Topic #3: Favorite Character
Think back to all of the movies and/or books you have watched or read. Who is your favorite character? Why do you like this character? In my case, I have two that I really like. The first is Aslan from the Chronicles of Narnia. I love his majestic nature. He can be simultaneously gentle and fearsome. He does not appear in the movie too often, but throughout the movie, you attain the sense that he is present and watching over.

Eliza Doolittle played by the all-too-famous Audrey Hepburn in the classic movie "My Fair Lady" is another character I really like. I LOVE this movie from start to finish. It was a musical movie based on the book Pygmalian written by George Bernard Shaw. She is witty, funny, loving, and intelligent. The obstacles she faces yet the happiness she exudes in spite of her impoverished state are qualities that deserve great respect.
How about you? Who is your favorite character? Why?

Topic #2: Tall or Short?
How many of you are content with your height? Do you wish you were taller? Shorter? I am 5' 2", which equals approximately 155 cm. When I was younger, I wanted to be at the height of 5' 7". However, I realized that I was not going to get there despite all the milk I drank. Therefore, I tried to establish a more realistic goal of 5' 4". Sadly, I never made it there either. Hence, I am at my current height of 5' 2". Wednesday, September 16, 2015
Topic #1: Your Birthday
When are your birthdays? In my case, my birthday is in May, which is largely the reason why I was named "May." Up until some years ago, I anxiously used to wait for my birthday because it was nice to have my "special day." It was with anticipation that I waited to see what was going to happen to me on that day. When I write "happen to me," I mean what type of events loved ones would prepare for me. Although I still feel like a 21-year-old in heart, the reality is that I am slightly (and only slightly!) older than that. Therefore, I no longer anxiously wait for that day.
When it is my birthday, it is just another day but perhaps a little bit more. I will be honest in that I do have a little expectation from certain people in my life such as my husband (poor husband). Haha~! If it passes quietly, I know that I will feel sad.
How about you? How do you feel when it is your birthday? Has your outlook on birthdays changed as you have gotten older? Do you have any special plans for your next birthday?
